Conservation Centre

Have you ever wondered how National Museums Liverpool cares for objects in their collection? The award-winning National Conservation Centre is unique in presenting the work of museum conservators to the public. Bring your family along to Reveal - The Hidden Story of Objects, our permanent exhibition with a conservation science lab at its centre. This vibrant and contemporary gallery explores both the memories that objects contain and how science helps us to interpret them. Demonstrators, interactive activities, and multi-media terminals enable the whole family to investigate and understand our collections, through virtual reality, dirt-busting lasers, the re-building of a broken statue, or the exploration of an Egyptian mummy without touching it.
