Liverpool extends a warm welcome to coach groups and in 2010, Liverpool City Council has introduced a Coach Welcome Scheme for groups arriving in the city. Available at Liverpool Cathedral in the city's historic Hope Street Quarter, groups arriving in Liverpool are able to find out about the city from a team of enthusiastic and well-trained hosts.
Coach Groups who use this free service are able to enjoy these features:
Drivers are given useful information on where to park their coaches, drop-off and pick-up points, and advised of any road works or traffic diversions. Drivers also receive free refreshments at Liverpool Cathedral.
The Welcome Scheme operates on request Monday to Saturday, March - October between 10.00am and 5.00pm. Coach groups wishing to use the scheme can call ahead, even on the day, to be assured that the host will be there as the coach arrives or should report to the gate lodge at the cathedral on arrival where there will be a short wait while the duty host will be called.
Passengers can rejoin the coach at Liverpool Cathedral or be collected from elsewhere in the city centre after exploring the destination by themselves. From Liverpool Cathedral passengers are easily able to explore the city centre with its excellent shopping, museums, galleries, tours, cafes and restaurants.
